There is a right way to do living history and our friends and partners, the Independent Rifles, do it right.

There is a right way to do living history and our friends and partners, the Independent Rifles, do it right. Over the last several years the group and their national partners have hosted events at all three Battle of Franklin Trust sites and other Civil War battlefields across the country. Their commitment to authenticity, interpretive accuracy, and research is unmatched and we are very fortunate to host them again this weekend at the Carter House.

Portraying Company C, 57th Indiana Infantry, members of the Independent Rifles will conduct a series of programs on Saturday, December 2, for the public. Additionally, they will work alongside our interpretive staff to enhance visitor experiences during our commemoration of the 159th Anniversary of the Battle of Franklin. It is very rare to see this level of quality in living history circles, so you won’t want to miss this!
