A man slaughtered a large cow, lit the grill, and said to his daughter:

“My daughter, go and invite our relatives, friends, and neighbors to join us for a feast!”

His wise daughter went out into the street and shouted:
“Please, help us! There’s a fire at my father’s house!”

A few moments later, only a handful of people rushed to help, while many others ignored her cries.

Those who responded stayed, shared in the meal, and enjoyed the evening together.

Surprised, the father turned to his daughter and said:
“The people who came—I barely know them, and some are complete strangers. Where are our relatives, friends, and neighbors?”

With a knowing smile, the daughter replied:
“The ones who came didn’t come for the feast; they came because they thought we were in trouble. These are the people who truly deserve our generosity and hospitality.”

This is the reality of life. The people you assume are yours may not truly be. In moments of need, you will see who genuinely stands by you. Choose wisely whom you call family, friends, and neighbors.
